3 Brewers Music Festival 2026

Our Music Festival has grown and grown from its humble origins as a brewery open day back in 2016 to become the highlight of our year. If you've been before, then you know! If you haven't, then make sure you get down this year on Saturday 5th September to find out what the fuss is about. The festival is free, with no tickets required, and we even provide free overnight parking.

I've been reliably informed this is a genuine conversation that happened at Glasto HQ a few weeks ago:

Michael E: You seen 3 Brewers lineup Em?
Emily E: Yep Dad. Why do we bother - they've cornered the market in top talent yet again.
Michael: I honestly don't know how they do it. Shall we call it another fallow year at Glasto this year?
Emily: Great idea pops. I'll book a minibus and we can all go to 3 Brewers Festival!

They're not wrong. The musical lineup is phenomenal:

The Lettuceheads (best covers band around)
Grace George (local legend with one of those Sheeran loopy things)
The Kopy Katz (Rockabilly)
Kelvin Davies, Chloe Turner & Gary Jones (folky guitars & harmonica)
The Eerie (surf guitar)
Ictus (jazz without the weird bits)

We've also got tremendous street food vendors, a beer festival (including our new Pilsner Lager and Grand Stout!) and the very best vibes around.

How much is this extravaganza? Zilch. Nowt. It's free. No tickets. No 'pre sale'. No 'early bird' discount. Just round up yer homies and get to the farm for 1pm

People often ask why I don't charge an entry fee. Well financially it would make sense, but it also means our slightly wonky festival would have to straighten up. I'd have to be even more bothered about bog roll, and you can't claim 'I thought it was in the ticket price' when I catch you nicking our branded plastic glasses. It isn't slick. Never will be. If you've been before you know what I'm on about. Marketing boffins would call it rustic charm or some such nonsense.

Roadworks Update: Till end of August Coopers Green Lane (CGL) is shut at the WGC end - you'll need to get on to CGL via the Industrial Estate ie Hatfield Ave. If you're travelling from St A - no probs it's open as normal - ignore signs saying it's closed.

Well the Alpha Male of farm machinery is back in the yard and that can only mean one thing - it's harvest time!

For the next several weeks there will be a lot of activity on the farm with big equipment moving big loads.

Please take extra care when visiting the brewery. Make sure you only park in the car park, and please only use the beer garden and the brewery itself, all other parts of the farm are out of bounds. Finally please keep dogs, children and other pets under supervision at all times.

We'll of course have a fabulous selection of our award winning beers, cider, soft drinks and other stuff available, plus top class bants. It's the perfect setting to get away from it all and chill out for a while.

Great news folks, concrete has dried and after a star studded opening ceremony* the regular entrance to the farm is open again. And boy oh boy it was worth the wait. Combined with the recently resurfaced lane, travelling to the brewery is like being an extra in a Lenor advert, all soft, gentle and fragrant. That's until you get honked at by a Peacock and the illusion is shattered, but it's great while it lasts.

In case I've not mentioned it before, our music, food and beer festival is on Saturday 5th September this year. It's shaping up nicely, with some awesome bands and food vendors lined up. The beer will be half decent too. You know the drill, share this post and tell everyone you know to put the festival in their diaries. More details soon.

Finally in a significant break from tradition, it looks like decent weather this Bank Hols Weekend. The excitement has gone to my head and I've decided to open the taproom all three days. Opening is provisionally:

Saturday 23rd 11.00-5.00 ish
Sunday 24th 12.00 - 5.00
Monday 25th 12.00 - 5.00

* We were really honoured to have Metallica open the new driveway. Unfortunately I left my phone at home so I've got no pics, but the boys enjoyed their day out and seemed keen to play at our festival as soon as we can fit them in. I'll keep you posted.

As you probably know by now, we're surrounded by creative, talented people on the farm - none more so than Jude at Blackberry Forge. Jude helped us out of a big hole yesterday. Our grain hopper slide gate, which was fourth hand when we bought it 14 years ago, had worn so thin it wouldn't have survived the next brew. If we can't control the flow of the grains, we can't brew.

I asked Jude if a new one could be fabricated, and 20 mins later the beauty at the bottom of the photo was in place in the hopper. Jude used a piece of kit that's absolute metallurgical wizzardry, I think it's a plasma cutter? What a bit of kit! I promise you, if Nuclear Fusion ever becomes a reality I reckon it'll start in Judes workshop with help from his plasma thingy.

So big thanks to the big man.

Jude also runs courses in knife making.

Normal farm entrance will be open again from Monday next week.

Well this is maybe a little late given that it's already Bank Hols weekend, but our Bank Hols opening is as follows:

Sat 2 May: Open until 5 ish
Sun 3 May: Mainly closed. I'll be in for a short while so if you pop over you take your chances
Mon 4 May: Open 11 till 5

For those of you who haven't had a go on the temporary track to the farm - don't be shy - it's a blast! Little known fact - the fields around the track are the best spot in the county for birdwatching (seriously) . Currently there are some rare ducks milling about and last year there was an Ospery or two. And of course a whole bunch of Red Kites. Also the guys who have excavated the sand are in the process of creating a pond / lake / lagoon which will be a sanctuary for more wildlife for years to come - so now is a great opportunity to see the land at the start of this exciting transformation.

Directions to the track are in my last post, plus there are more directions at the normal (currently closed) farm entrance.

We've got a load of beers on cask, on 'craft' keg and our new and very popular Pilsner is on tap too.

So, don your deerstalker, pick up your bins and head over the 3 Brewers pronto.

Sorry for the short notice, but we're hosting a 'Meet the Brewer' evening at the fabulous Lower Red Lion Beer Festival on Thursday 16th April from 7.30. Head Brewer Matt will be on hand to field your trickiest brewing questions, and I'll bluster my way through other stuff, but to be honest we'd love to talk about Drum & Bass and Math rock too. All you need to do is tear yourselves away from MAFS Oz for one evening and head over to the Lower Red Lion, Fishpool St., St Albans for an unforgettable evening.

And for those who missed out on our celebratory brew of Grand Stout - one cask of this beauty will be on tap! Get there early - it'll sell out quickly. What's more - the entire flippin range of 3 Brewers beers will be on tap - including one we haven't even launched yet. Epic!

Keep your eyes peeled for exciting news about more concrete being laid at the farm - and a whole new way to get to the brewery!

So, what's this amber nectar, I hear you ask? Well, the trainspotters amongst you will have worked it out already. We've only gone and brewed a blimmin' lager. And it's really very good. It's a crisp and full flavoured pilsner, perfect for the longer evenings and possibly even a pint or two at the taproom.

Speaking of which, we've got a lineup and a half at the taproom this Easter weekend. Not only have we got our Pilsner on tap, we've also got Golden, IPA, Classic and Special English Ale on draught, in mini kegs and in take home pouches. And, as a special treat, we've got a limited (very very limited...) number of mini kegs of our gorgeous and very popular Grand Stout. No pre orders. First come first served.

Hold on, what's this? It's only our fabulous Coffee Porter! After our regular Porter sold out on Saturday and we had customers in floods of tears after realising they'd missed out, I had to do something to help. So, from midday today, we'll have a very limited number of Coffee Porter mini kegs available. And a few pints on draught too.

No pre orders - it's strictly first come first served. Apologies in advance to our fans in Canada (who I believe followed us thinking we were Les 3 Brasseurs) - you're probably not going to make it in time.

We've got t-shirts, polo shirts, gift packs, mini kegs, bottles and Xmas vibes, so don't delay, head on over.

BTW I went on the snazzy new Guinness Brewery tour in Covent Garden at the weekend. Despite costing about £71m less than the Guinness affair, I have to say ours is even better!

1. We've just bottled our Blonde Ale. It's lovely. 4.2% ABV. Crisp. Hoppy. Available from brewery taproom & shop now.

2. On Saturdays I'm closing the brewery an hour earlier than usual, at 4pm, for the next couple of months. It's got too dark, too chilly, and it's no good for my circulation. So, from Sat 22 Nov, our opening hours will be:

Mon - Fri 8 till 4
Saturdays 11 till 4

Xmas opening to be decided soon.

PS: Matt told me today my posts can be a bit wordy. So I've taken on board his feedback and pruned down my usual drivel. Please note that the new beer (Ballito Blonde - can't go into details here - way too lengthy) will be in the best local pubs and, from Saturday, on tap and in mini kegs from the brewery taproom.

OK folks, less than a week to go to the highlight of the festival season, and it's a phenomenal lineup we've got for you. The running order and stage times are:

1.00 - 1.40 Ictus
Smooth jazz, yeah....

1.45 - 2.15 Gary Plourde
All the way from the USA. Probably wearing a baseball cap. The line was a bit crackly but I think he told me he'd love to do a Q&A on the state of American politics afterwards.

2.25 - 3.10 Fleetville Swing Band
All 18 of 'em! Playing Glenn Miller & Big Band classics. Pardon me, boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?

3.20 - 4.00 Tourist Attraction
Local lads playing punky pop. Or is it Poppy Punk? Or Rocky Pop, or....

4.10 - 5.10 The Moonstone Trio
Female vocal harmonies evoking the sounds of the late sixties early seventies.

5.20 - 6.00 Maclaren Wall
Tea swigging local movers & shakers playing covers. Don't piss off Mac - we're borrowing his PA!

6.10 - 7.50 The Zipheads
Rock & Roll / Rockabilly / Psychobilly - I dunno. But this high energy trio will hit you between the eyes. I've been trying to book them for years - much like Glasto trying to get Fleetwood Mac (musically they're way better - and with less interbreeding - so I'm told).

8.00 - 8.50 Mouth on a Stick
More local legends playing covers. If you've seen them before, you know.

9.00 - 11.00 Pat and the Butchers
Yet more local legends. The best covers band around. Get outta my pub!

Not content with cornering the market for global musical talent - we've also got a merch stall (yes - really!), Matt the Guitar has a stall (go on you plank spankers - commission one of his beauties) and Mandy the Artist will have a stall and we're displaying her artwork on the mezzanine. Blimey, I've gone a bit giddy just at the thought of it.

So, even if you don't like music and you don't like beer (or wine, prosecco, G&T, soft drinks...) you should stick your ear plugs in and head over to our festival for awesome nosh, top vibes and a big bonfire. Oh, and we're also supporting some of the other crazily talented people on the farm - look out for stalls including Matt the Guitar Maker (luthier, if you will) and Mandy the Artist.

All that and I haven't even started banging on about the bands. Or the beer. Or the merch (yes - I actually remembered to order some this time), or the highly anticipated follow up to our insanely successful wet'n'dry vacuum cleaner sale from a few years back. (Sneak preview - this years items for sale may include a 2000 litre brewing kettle, a power drill, an exercise bike, and a Freeview PVR populated almost entirely with episodes of Doc Martin and Vera). Well @schafernaker says the rain is going elsewhere by 2.50 which is a stroke of luck because we've got the KRG Trio playing live jazz at the brewery this afternoon*. Very loosely music will be from 3 till 5 ish.

I've also been assured by people in the know that the new road surface on the lane is so thick that it'll never flood again.

So, all you need to do is round up your buddies and head over to the brewery for the very finest local beers, cool vibes and top bants. Epic.

I think it's now common knowledge that Glasto send their scouts to our festival to see what's what, but sometimes I wonder if they're really paying attention. I mean this year they've got Lola Young on at the same time as English Teacher, and blimmin' Charli XCX on at the same time as Doechii !!!! It beggars belief.

No such dilemmas at the rather wonderful 3 Brewers festival this year. We've cunningly got two stages so there's always someone playing while another is setting up and whatnot. Guaranteed no clashes!

And, blimey, we've got a lineup and a half this year. Nine acts in all, ranging from a Jazz quartet to an 18 piece Swing band, from acoustic duos, to a powerhouse rock'n'roll trio, we've got almost all genres covered.

Each act deserves their own post, and I'll do a few more posts randomly spotlighting most of them. And don't start me on the food lineup.... I think I'm going to need a 'legends' slot for the food vendors too. More of that soon too.

'I can't bear to miss out - what do I need to do?' I hear you holler. All you need to do is make sure the date is in your diary (Aug 30th), tell literally everyone you know, share this post (better than a like, apparently) and get into the vibe by watching or going to Glasto this weekend. But if anyone turns up at our bash with a blasted flag on a long pole ...... well, you've been warned.

And I've ordered more bogs than ever this year.

How much for this pinnacle of live music, food and beer? Nowt. Literally nothing. That's not rounded down, it's actually nothing.

Finally, the eagle eyed may have noticed the festival poster has taken our design values up a bazillion notches this year. This is thanks to our soon-to-be tenant, super talented artist Mandy Johnson from Sketchnotes UK - so a big shout out to Mandy - thank you.

Well this is the last of my joint 'Road and Zipheads' posts. Firstly hats off to the highways team - just look at those beautiful white lines - at least 20 short ones and 3 long ones! The advertised five day schedule had them knocking out around 5 lines per day but these absolute legends did the whole lot in a couple of hours! Please, someone give them the contract for HS2 - they'll have it sorted before the end of the month.

Secondly, and perhaps even more impressive, well done to The Zipheads for a tremendous album launch gig at the Underworld on Friday. The lads played an absolute blinder and I'm getting more excited by the day to have them playing at our festival this year (30th August ... make sure it's in your diary).

Perhaps subliminally inspired by the roadworks on the lane, we've concreted over the dodgy bits of flooring in the brewery. It's flippin' ace! None of you should need a reason (beyond great beers) to visit the brewery, but if it tickles your fancy I won't hold it against you if you also come to admire the new road surface or swoon over the new concrete patches.

Well I've been keeping you entertained recently with details of the roadworks and brewery faves The Zipheads - so excitement will be at fever pitch as I'm combining them both in one mega post. And revised opening times too!!!

So, kicking off with Zipheads. These guys are 'dropping' their new album imminently and their launch bash is at Camden Underworld on Friday 13th June. These guys have a fearsome live reputation and and amongst the finest rockabilly / psychobilly / rock & roll bands in the country. If you don't catch them in Camden they're off touring the country, but will be returning to play at our very own festival at the brewery on 30th August. Not to be missed.

Now, roadworks. Not content with the world class billiard table finish on the lane, the council are doing further fine tuning between 13th and 17th June. Joy of joys. You'll have to approach us from Hammonds Lane.

Opening Times. Matt is having a well earned break next week so I'm holding the fort, which as usual means fairly random opening times. At the moment I think the plan is:

Mon 9th: Closed
Tue 10th: Open 10 till 4
Weds 11th: Closed
Thurs 12th: Closed
Fri 13th: Open 11 to 4

Also, with the weather looking hideous this Saturday (7th) I'm going to close the taproom earlier than usual at 3pm. So Saturday opening will be 11 till 3.

Normal service will be resumed the week after next. Definitely. Maybe.

Oh ruddy heck! It was only a few weeks ago that the council shut the lane to fill in the potholes (apparently it used up most of the spoil from HS2) and now they're at it again. So they're either having another go at the snooker table finish, or they're digging it up. My money's on the latter.

So, from Thursday to Saturday this week you'll need to approach the farm from Hammonds Lane / Coleman Green Lane from Sandridge.

The good news is we're still open and we'll have cold beer on tap plus relaxed farm vibes and world class bants from the brewing boys. Tommy S reckons the weather is going to be lovely. Sods law, it'll probably melt the new tarmac.

Round up your flock, head over to The 3 Brewers and meet the new tenants at the farm. The Baa is open this Saturday, serving great beers, soft drinks and choc brownies. Cuteness in abundance*, and that's just the staff.

Saturday opening 11 till 5.
Sunday and Monday - haven't decided yet. Watch this space for a decision after a long awaited period of procrastination.

Apologies for radio silence, but this post should make up for it with two fully loaded barrels of fun, firstly with confirmation of our Music festival lineup, and secondly with our Easter opening times. Epic!

After years of trying to book them, The Zipheads will be ripping up the main stage (not literally, I'll be livid..) at our festival this year. Much like Glasto trying to get hold of Fleetwood Mac, there were times when I thought it wasn't going to happen, but this year the planets aligned, and one of the best Rockabilly / Psychobilly bands in the country are playing at our wonky wee festival. With a new album out in June, followed by a UK tour, their performance at the brewery will be a homecoming gig not to be missed.

On the second stage we've got local legends Mouth on a Stick and MacLaren Wall performing, and New Hampshire local legend Gary Plourde. The lineup is completed by brewery regulars Ictus starting the day with their laid back jazz grooves, Pat & The Butchers, and the Moonstone Trio bringing the vibes (if not the aroma) of Woodstock to the farm.

And don't forget there's a really small chance of a really big name putting in a low key secret appearance (no, for the millionth time, it's not Metallica - they said our crowd was way too raucous for their liking).

Now, opening this week is frankly all over the shop, and I'm not sure even I know what's happening. Due to a heady combo of family commitments, website fine tuning and deliveries, from Monday to Thursday I suggest you call in advance of visiting the brewery.

Easter is looking more solid:

So, drop in to pick up the finest beers around (bottles, mini kegs, and bigger stuff if ordered in advance) or round up your homies for a bevvy or two in the tranquility of the farm.

Just realised my last post said the lane to the brewery was closed. For those that hang on my every word the potholes have been filled and the road's open again. Hurrah!

More importantly, I'm happy to announce that our rather lovely Music, Beer and Food festival is on again this year on Saturday 30th August. And I'm doubly chuffed to announce that the awesome Pat and the Butchers will be our headline act. So, you've got plenty of time to polish your dancing shoes and fine tune your singalong vocals, because we're hitting party mode big time.

We've also secured the talents of The Moonstone Trio - a fantastic vocal trio with a big whiff of Woodstock vibes.

I'll be announcing loads more acts in the coming weeks, plus a lineup of street food vendors that would have Gordon Ramsay go teary eyed like that bloke off the pottery programme.

We've been doing this a few years now and I should be getting good at it. Fat chance. It'll still be a bit wonky and I'll forget something essential, but I also think this year is going to be an absolute belter.

All you need to do is make sure it's in the diary, share the post (much better than just liking it) and start getting a gang together.
